I know what you're thinking, but wait! It's actually not some shitty mod that just barely passes as working!

Lookie here.

No real info yet, besides that it is coming, but apparently lots of details soon. <_<

Awesome, preemptively saying goodbye to approximately 19,788 hours of my life.

I am cautiously optimistic. This is a pretty huge shift in direction for the series, and I have to wonder how well the developers are gonna handle that. <_<

Maiq prefers to adventure alone. Others just get in the way. And they talk talk talk.

Argonians FTW?

Let's just hope we don't end up getting the really weird-looking Argonians they had in Arena. No thanks!

I just hope this won't end up as Warcraft did, where there have been no additions to the series apart from WoW for the last eight or nine years.

The place where the empire tried to attack and the terrain and the native race simply said "No."

This is the place where when the oblivion gates opened, they invaded oblivion and forced the Dremora to close the gates or be overrun by angry lizardmen.

Wait when is this taking place? What is the conflict?

Players will discover an entirely new chapter of Elder Scrolls history in this ambitious world, set a millennium before the events of Skyrim as the daedric prince Molag Bal tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm.

Perhaps Akavir? Exploring the Reman Dynasty could be interesting.

It scares me. Like...in the sense of a good book getting turned into a crappy movie. I'm not happy at all about it, because it very much goes against the lore to even have an MMO. Every other ES game has a "Hero" which aren't bound by the Elder Scroll prophecies and can even rewrite them. MMOs are all about everyone being a hero, so..... Unless it's everyone playing common peasants, it inherently goes against the lore.

And I really hope it doesn't put a stop in the single player games.

According to the thing each player is part of one of three overarcing factions. Since factions (guilds, nations, or otherwise) mucking things up for everyone, having weird splits, allying and breaking alliances, and similar are very much lore-specific, and since in every game you encounter plenty of people with the same skills that you do (if not the special spark that makes them Beloved of Plot), it seems okay to me, conceptually.

EDIT: So what I'm saying is that it sounds kind of like Planetside: Nirn edition, and I'm okay with that.

I would actually hate to see Bethesda make an mmo. I especially would hate to see Bethesda making an mmo on the fricking Hero engine.

Also I don't really think Elder scrolls in general would make a good mmo.
Turnus2012-05-09 04:57:14
Its not actually being developed by Bethesda, its being made by another studio owned by the same parent company.
