You say, "On with the sermon it is, then!"
Unknown2012-03-05 00:25:56
And now for the sermon! This part of was given using the Deep Blue Cathedral's super secret Celest-only special mechanics thing.

Standing before the pulpit deep below, Iytha says, "There is no need to come out of the lodge, I assure you, my voice will carry"

Standing before the pulpit below, Iytha says, "Archmage, if you would, come gather the errant flock back up into the lodge?"

Telperion makes a beckoning motion to no-one in particular.

Clearing her throat below, Iytha says, "Right then. Let us begin?"

Standing once more before the pulpit below, Iytha says, "Brothers and Sisters in Faith, I say to you today: We live in a world fallen from grace! Once, the First World was an idyllic realm, beautiful and perfect, free from both want and woe. Free from death, from disease, from decay, in a word, a utopia!"

Raising one beseeching arm up from below, Iytha says, "Once, there was no such thing as sickness, no plagues or parasites, save for little mites made as pranks by the Seventh Circle. Never the malicious diseases, miasmas and flesh-melting sicknesses of the modern era. Contagion did not seep from the ground, nor did worms and maggots feast upon the dead."

Raising her other arm as well from below, Iytha says, "Once, the world was full of great and glorious creations by the Elder Gods, with the promise that more would come with each passing year. That which was made in the days of yore surpasses even the greatest triumph of the modern era! And, in those days, to say that the world would crumble, that the glories of the past would be forgotten, was simply unthinkable!"

Eyes downcast as her voice grows grave below, Iytha says, "Once, one could walk the world and never lay eyes upon a grave, nor set foot on an ancient battlefield. Every death was an untimely tragedy, something spoken of in hushed tones, full of both sorrow and reverence. Never was it a simple inevitability!"

Suddenly looking up with clenched fists from below, Iytha says, "But no more! The touch of the Soulless has come, and now the world is a wasteland, filled with the graves of countless mortal races and countless more Elders. The works of both God and mortal have crumbled into all but dust, and the lands themselves are all but unlivable."

Gesturing in the cardinal directions as she preaches below, Iytha says, "In the east Kethuru has fouled the land and cast down our once great empire! In the north, Zenos has subverted in turns the city of Climanti and tribes of Icewynd His foul designs. Each of them lured by the promise of power and then all but destroyed in their bargining with the Soulless. The Twelve Traitors to the Gods and the Four Angels of Ice preside in those places, seeking not the cleansing grace of the Light, but only further corruption!"

Gesturing in the cardinal directions as she preaches below, Iytha says, "To the south, Crazen sleeps deep below the Castle Djarrakh, the aslarans of the Kryden Valik in his thrall. Above, war forever clashes and the dead do not rest easily; either wandering the wastes or haunting the halls of the living. Slowly, the Krokani people, once faithful allies of the Light, have begun to wither and die, all the while turning away from the Light."

Pointing at the ground below, Iytha says, "In the center, Balach has become the house of Muud, filled with plagues and diseases enough to drive half the mugwumps of the Basin insane and the rest from their ancient homestead. The plagues that emerge now from the swap attack not only the body, but the spirit, warping aura and flesh alike to bring torment and death. Indeed, it was those foul plagues that brought about the sacrifice of Ayridion and the end of Vernal Age!"

Leaning forward over the pulpit below, Iytha says, "Only in the west, beset on all sides by the corrupting touch of the Soulless, the heretic, the infidel and the blasphemer, stands New Celest, last bastion of the Light and the last hope to purify the First World of the myraid defilements that have come to it! Even now, the forces of corruption seek to defile the last unblighted land! Those unclean souls, so inured by violence, accustomed to sickness and blase about death, seek to destroy their last hope of redemption and to instead foul all things with the Taint so that they may rule forever over the festering corpse of the First World."

Beaming at the direction of the Nave below, Iytha says, "Against such evil, the Light is blessed with her great guardians: She sacrements of Ressurection and Sacrifice to sustain our lives without succumbing to the corruption of the Taint; the Last Rites, to see to the sanctity of the dead; the cleansing powers of the Waters; the eternal vigilence of the Tahtetso against the servants of Illith and the inspiring words of my own guild, which speak of the hope for a better tomorrow and a future in which all the world is purged of evil and restored to the greatness of ages past."

A pump of her fist punctuating each instruction resounding from below, Iytha says, "And so I leave you with these words: For the Glory of the Light, Burn the Heretic! Kill the Infidel! Purge the Unclean!"

And, for good measure, the hymnal:

"The Celestial Hymnal", By the Cantors Guild (Page 1)
PROCESSIONAL:

Labourers of the Light

Labourers of Light, arise,
And gird you for the toil;
Blood of sacrifice from the wise
Already stains the soil

Go where the sick recline,
Where tainted hearts make war;
And, where the sons of evil pine,
Dispense your hallowed lore.

Urge, with a tender zeal,
The erring child along,
Where peaceful congregations kneel,
And pious teachers throng.

Be faith, which looks above,
With prayer, your constant guest,
And wrap Raziela's changeless love
A mantle round your breast.

So shall you share the wealth,
That taint may never despoil,
And the blessed preacher's saving health,
That beats any healing oil.

---

The Temptation and the Fall

Inspiration comes on inky wings,
And so my muse to me now sings:
"Write, my child, about the Fall,
Of the briefest Vernal of them all.

Sing the song of the dark tide turned,
Of that Crown our Princess spurned
So that the Light may shine ever true
And insure that Celest may begin anew."

And so my pen to paper does now consign
This verse in honour of our first Divine:
The Princess Marilynth who burned so bright
But an hour before Her return to the Light.

Only an hour of Her beatific grace.
Only an hour of Godhood's embrace.
But forever shall Celest recall,
Marilynth' sacrifice and the Fall.

Let all who are tempted by the Taint,
Be it faintly or be temptation great,
Recall that the Princess was offered more
And still found in Her the faith to ignore

Every offer of the Dark Lord Ladantine
And instead call upon Avechna of the Nine,
To drive out the darkness with strength sublime
And be example of true sacrifice for all of time.

"The Celestial Hymnal", By the Cantors Guild (Page 2)
Light Come Reside in Me

Reside in me; swiftly comes the tide;
The darkness deepens; Light in me reside.
When other cities fail and communes flee,
Light everlasting, come reside in me.

Swift to its end ebbs out life's little day;
All hopes grow dim and glories fade away;
Death and despair is all that I can see;
Come that Light which fades not, reside in me.

Not a brief glimmer or a passing sight,
But as it dwells within the faithful: Light,
Familiar, everlasting, patient, free.
Come not to sojourn, but reside in me.

Come guide me Light away from evil ways
To kind and good, with healing in our days;
Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea.
Come, Light of angels, come, reside in me.

Thou on my head in early youth did smile,
And though rebellious and perverse meanwhile,
It has not left me, oft as I left it.
On to the end, come Light, reside in me.

I need the Light in every passing hour.
What but Light's grace can foil the tainted powers?
What, like the Light, my guide and stay can be?
Through storm and sunshine, Light, reside in me.

I fear no foe, with Light at hand to bless;
Death have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Light resides in me.

Shine the Light's glow before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Shakiniel's dawn now breaks, and death's vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, come Light, reside in me.

---

RECESSIONAL:

Praise oh Praise Elohora!

My eyes have seen the fury of the dawning of the Light
From the safe and sacred halls of blessed Shakiniel
And from the forge of the Holy Flame, burning ever bright,
Strength and succor both alike do sure and swiftly swell.

Praise oh Praise Elohora!
Praise oh Praise Elohora!
Praise oh Praise Elohora!
May She bless us in the Light!

My eyes have seen the mercy of the rising tide of Light
Down from the mountains of the wise and merciful
And up from the holy valleys to the seraphim's delight
Flowing with Light and Love to refresh that starlit pool.

Praise oh Praise Elohora!
Praise oh Praise Elohora!
Praise oh Praise Elohora!
May She bless us in the Light!

My eyes have seen the glory of the Queen of Eternal Light
And know that all praises of Her are never empty boasts
For such is the strength of vast and enduring might
That gives puissance to we, Her most holy hosts.

Praise oh Praise Elohora!
Praise oh Praise Elohora!
Praise oh Praise Elohora!
May She bless us in the Light!

And My eyes shall never sight upon the fading of this Light
That shines with grace and glory on the strong and the frail
A light that rises ever upwards to a new and greater height
For the Light shall in the end prevail!

Haven't been logging them, but I figured I'd note that I've done four more sermons since, and eight more hymns sung publically. If there's interest, I'll post them here.
