As the warmth of the lovely aubade surrounds you, you are suddenly struck with a deep longing for
Shuyin and gaze deeply into his eyes.

MIDNIGHTMINUET - offbalance:

You spring into sudden motion, your legs moving stiffly of their own accord in interweaving steps,
compelled by the minuet ringing through the air.

FLECKEDFORTISSIMO - 5s stun + prone:

The deafening notes bring you to your knees, reverberating endlessly within your skull.

The music resounds around you strangely, causing you to freeze in horror as the world around you
speeds up in a series of rapid blurs.
Suddenly your movements through the time stream are slowed. - aeoned

A look of horror crosses Malarious's face as he winces, his movements becoming sluggish as the air
about him shimmers.
Suddenly Malarious's movements through the time stream are slowed. - 3rd person

REDRUBATO - timewarp + damage:

The rhythms of the rubato cause the air around you to buckle and shift as time itself warps in your
presence, wracking your body with pain.

CONVERGENCE - strip quicksilver -and- aeon + 8s stun while asleep, it goes through quicksilver:

You feel a sinking sensation in your stomach as the fabric of space and time distorts around you.
Everything goes dark as the world shifts around you.
You are blind and can see nothing but darkness.

FUNEBRE - instakill with earwort:

"Mmmbop." sings Shuyin, loosing grim, sombre notes from a simple
wooden violin of the Lame Raider, and he looks directly at you.

Staring balefully at you, Shuyin draws low, ominous chords from the air,
focused upon maintaining the killing song. You suddenly falter as the funebre pervades your hearing,
wrinkles forming across your skin, crinkling like brittle parchment.

"Dowop bop." sings Shuyin, loosing grim, sombre notes from a simple
wooden violin of the Lame Raider, and he looks directly at Malarious.

Staring balefully at Malarious, Shuyin draws low, ominous chords from the air, focusing upon
maintaining the killing song. Malarious suddenly falters, glancing down in consternation as wrinkles
form on his skin, crinkling like brittle parchment.

Minstrelry:

-------------------------------------------------------------

STUMBLING - passive prone + offbalance:

You stumble over your own feet as you try to dance.

ALCOHOLFUMES - passive drunk:

You inhale the dense alcoholic fumes flowing from Pesukaru and feel yourself become more inebriated.

CHAOSCHORD - damage:

Pesukaru plays Zephyros, Lute of the West Wind and directs the chaotic notes towards you.
You feel your blood begin to boil as your skin turns red and chars.

STRANGETRIP - passive weedhigh:

Your mind reels as the stench of cactus weed overcomes you and takes you on a strange trip.

YAIKOYAIKO - ego/mana damage based off insanity:

As Pesukaru's music washes over you, your mind descends into chaos.

SHOTNOTE - increase drunkenness:

As the ringing note reverberates through your head dizzyingly, you stumble, hiccupping, as your
world blurs into a drunken haze.

PURPLEHAZE - hallucinations, paranoia, vertigo, dementia, or confusion:

A purple haze descends over your vision, confusing you with wild hallucinations.

FIREFUGUE - health damage based off burn levels:

The air around you shimmers in response to the song before igniting, consuming you in a roaring pyre
of red-orange flame.

CANCAN - passive damage:

Viynain begins bobbing his head and then suddenly thrusts his leg upwards, catching you painfully in
the gut.

DRUNKENFOOL - massive offbalance based off drunkenness, erases drunkenness:

Laughing gaily in your drunken state, you hop about wildly to the music, shaking your rear and
giving a loud belch. Sobriety suddenly slaps you coldly in the face as you quickly descend from your
high, glancing around in mute embarrassment.

JITTERBUG - causes eat cures to fail, takes herb/sparkleberry balance:

You eat a yarrow sprig.
The jitterbug overcomes you, and you spit out the herb so you can dance without choking.

You eat a sparkleberry.
The jitterbug overcomes you, and you spit out the herb so you can dance without choking.

RAVE - instakill:

"Test," sings Pesukaru, building up a crescendo of powerful, deeply riveting notes, and he looks
directly at you.

Pesukaru continues to play furious, fast-paced, infectiously energetic music and you continue to
dance wildly, caught up entirely in the ectasy of the rhythm. You feel your body heating up and
sweat drips down your forehead at the exertion.

Pesukaru brings the lively music to a deathly crescendo, and you feel the beat resonate within you,
pushing you to greater heights. You dance harder and faster than you ever thought possible, and as
sweat pours from your body you feel your chest tighten and mind protest. Trying desperately to draw
breath, you collapse to the ground from exhaustion and pitifully expire.
You have been slain by Pesukaru.

3rd person:

"Test," sings Pesukaru, building up a crescendo of powerful, deeply riveting notes, and he looks
directly at Viynain.

Pesukaru continues to play furious, fast-paced, infectiously energetic music and Viynain continues
to dance wildly, caught up entirely in the ectasy of the rhythm. Sweat begins to bead upon his
forehead and his skin flushes red.

Small correction. Violet Vibrato should be -

The oscillating notes of the violet vibrato ring maddeningly through your skull, causing you to clutch your head as your faculties elude you.
Unknown2012-01-12 04:37:21
Ah my bad, I had that on my triggers but neglected to fix the file. Fixed.
Rika2012-01-12 07:29:42
Halli bards suck. Gaudi's are OP.
Malarious2012-01-12 10:42:23
They are both awesome, but different.

Halli got the offense, gaudi got the defense.

Drunk not as bad as expected.
Mirami2012-01-12 22:34:43
Yay, lines.

Passive Herb-Bane is ridiculous, any way you look at it (3p, targetted, temporary (1-minute) skill-- the best skill in Ecology, for commune bards-- as a passive). I'd suggest a change to the Celest-bard-version (doesn't take herb-balance, still blocks the cure).

Seeing as the Spiritsingers spent a good deal of time (and a special report) moving away from sleep-based combat (because it didn't work), I don't see a sleep strategy working out well for the Symphonium.

Cantor abilities, particularly recessional, should not be used as a template when trying to design a workable bard skillset.

Huh... a drunken Dwarven Minstrel specializing in Brewmeister would be fun to play. Especially since the skills seem to lean a bit towards on the defensive side.

To be fair, the Ecology skillset doesn't steal herb balance, merely blocks the heal, as far as I am aware, Jitterbug steals the herb balance aswell as blocks the cure. And in regards to the sleep attrition that the Spiritsingers used to have, the entire skillset was based around sleep and making the target tired, BlueBerceuse merely just puts them to sleep without the tiredness factor.

Just on the topic of LoralAria and Minstrelry, has there been any talk of Dracnari/Trill/Lucidian specs for the two new bard guilds?
Enyalida2012-02-11 06:58:27
Also, a sleep focus seems to work a lot better with aeon effects thrown in, though without a way to strip metawake...

Well at the moment, the only way Symph's have of getting anywhere with metawake is mesmerizing until the victim is constantly passing out, agree'd not the best option, but their only one for dealing with metawake at the moment until they can come up with a better skill/stratergy. THey also need to envoy RedRubato to hit with psychic damage instead of cold to combat damage waking up their victim.
Enyalida2012-02-15 03:25:50
How does mesmerize deal with metawake?
Asmodea2012-02-15 03:30:40
Doesn't deal with it as such, it works like deepsleep by making the target tired to the point of passing out.
