Hi guys. I'm planning a trip to Vegas in a few months and I'd really appreciate suggestions on things to do in the city or close by.

I'll be traveling with a girl that likes sightseeing and whatnot so give me suggestions on that to.

I'll be there about three weeks and don't want to waste any of the time. Coming all the way from sweden so I want every second to count.

Thanks in advance.

Three words.

Hookers and blow.

Hrm... well there's lots of good shows to see. So definitely go see some of them. Pent and Teller are HILARIOUS. KA is really good too. Erm, beyond that...its all really lots of Casinos and Casinos and Casinos. You could visit the "old strip" but that's only if you really want. Its sort of meh, atleast that's my opinion of it. I can't give any other suggestions, especially when it comes to like clubs and stuff as I am under 21 and never went anywhere like that.

I would -highly- recommend looking at the casinos' sites. See what they've got going on.

~~Forgot to say that you should also just walk the strip. There's a lot happening, you can pretty much visit all the casinos/hotels from it. Generally its a really enjoyable walk but beware that it is ALWAYS, I mean ALWAYS crowded. Also gonna add that if you do walk the strip be aware of the card guys. basically on every stop light/street corner along the strip you'll have like 3-4 guys with a bunch of cards that advertise strip bars/hookers. Just ignore them and they won't bother you.

If you're 18+, I would suggest getting tickets to Zumanity by Cirque. There's also The Beatles show, and if I'm not mistaken, Ka is also showing there unless they ended their tour already.

Good call.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

On the hookers and blow thing. I'm not big on drugs and I've made a habit of not paying for something I can get for free. But thanks anyway.

I was going to see Penn & Teller and some other shows. I was more curious about off the strip things to do. Stuff like bungee jumping, parachuting, river rafting, mountain climbing and any and all types of rollercoasters and rides. I'm something of a adrenaline junkie.

Once again, thanks for the suggestions so far. smile.gif

Haha, haha, haha.. sad.gif The only "theme/water park" Vegas had closed down like 3-4 years ago. I know you can go mountain climbing on Mt. Charleston. I know there's a couple of paint ball places. There's one or two golf courses if you like golfing. Um, whichever casino/hotel you're staying at should have info booth/kiosk that'll help out more once you get to vegas. That's assuming of course you're staying at one of the casinos.

Circus Circus has a small theme park.
I enjoy visiting Fremont Street everytime I go down.
The fun for me in Vegas is the food. Lots of buffets. I don't drink, gamble, or watch topless shows so that does take a lot of the appeal out for me.

It will be crowded and at this time of year it will be HOT AS HELL.

Oh yeahhh. I guess I just didn't think about Circus Circus because my mother hates it. With a passion. Her hatred is for its colour. I kind of have to agree.

If you like art, the Belagio has an art gallery. I think the gallery changes every year. I'm not into art at all, but I have gone a couple times on field trips, they had Monet one year, and some american photographer dude the other.

So I asked my mom for few more suggestions. Seems there's a zip line on freemont street (I never knew this!) as well as jumping off the Stratosphere (also has a rollercoaster). There's also the dam tours and red rock.

I love me some food. I'm already set on eating at the few places the Man v Food show was at in Vegas. After that I'll see what more interesting I can find.

I don't. But the girl I'll be traveling with loves it. And she was looking over my shoulders at replies. And she saw what you wrote. And now I'll be forced there. I hope you're happy.

SkyJump is actually the main reason I'm going. Almost free falling from 108 stories up. Yes please! So I figured I'd do the other 3 rides offered at the Stratosphere aswell while I'm there. I had found the zip line on the internets aswell. But thanks anyway.

Is there a really big theme park in that part of the states? I'd totally be willing to rent a car and spend up to a week persuing something like that. It'd have to be pretty amazing though.

California's not too far from Vegas, particularly San Fransisco. Which is like a 4 hour drive. There's Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm, those are the only two I know of. Disney is in Anaheim, which is...a 2 hour drive, iirc? Knott's Berry is I think 2 hours as well. But then again when we were driving to them I wasn't paying attention to the time, just bored out of my mind.
Stangmar2011-08-30 13:22:36
L.A is closer to Vegas, not San Fran. There is Disneyland, California Adventure, Knotsberry, Six Flags Magic Mountain, and Universal Studios. I think it's about 4-5 hours from Vegas IIRC.

Eeeh. I was a teenager stuck in a truck that had a small cab as well as a person I have strong dislike. I really wasn't pay attention.
Stangmar2011-08-30 16:12:45
I've been forced to make the ride a few times, that's why I know. I try to avoid Cali, but I've had to go a few times. I prefer to make the drive in the middle of the night if I have to, but then that's when I prefer to drive anywhere.
Casilu2011-08-30 16:27:14
That is about a 4 hour drive, yeah. If you want a good coaster a bit closer, the state line has an awesome one.
Stangmar2011-08-30 17:06:01
Buffalo Bill's? I've eaten there, but didn't have the time to ride the coaster.

I think so. It was like 500 feet tall and covered in chainsaws. I think it did like 90 mph.
