Hello! I've just recently ventured into Cosplay. There're two events late in September and one major event in early October of this year. I can't seem to choose my characters. I'm leaning towards Erza Scarlet of Fairy Tail's repertoire of armors. Here are my current choices..other suggestions are welcome! I prefer a character I'm acquainted with/can acquaint myself with within the time period from now to the event date.

for October:
Erza - Black Wing Armor

for the September events:
Yuffie from Final Fantasy

Erza - Flight Armor

Rachel Alucard

Sode no Shirayuki

My main problems in choosing is my body structure and height. I'm wide-boned and am only 157 cm shorttall.
Thanks!

It might be just me, but anything Erza related just seems like a pain to put together and size it right. That is if you're putting together your own stuff. If not then I don't suppose the point really applies. Something like Shirayuki would be easier and there shouldn't be as much fitting going on with the yukata, less pieces anyway.

As for a suggestion, I've always wanted someone to go as Alice from Pandora Hearts. Can't seem to find anyone short enough to actually fit it though.

Well, my uncle and I are gonna learn to put up armors and related stuff using craft materials like foam and metal. The weapons, armor, shield and accessories of the first cosplay I did (last June), Sophitia from Soul Calibur IV, were mostly made from cardboard and shiny paper. It wasn't as sturdy, but we had to rush them for three days. Since we have more time until October 1st comes, I think we could venture into the sturdier materials that are often used for cosplay wear.

I've only heard about Pandora Hearts in name. Is it possible to orient myself with it in a short span of time?

(As for Erza. I started with Robe of Yuen last 18th of June for my second cosplay stint. I'm planning of making it a goal of mine to complete her armors as time goes by.)

And..for visual purposes, I'm this shorttall.

Your uncle is so kewl. And you are, too, of course.

And no, I don't have any advice really for cosplaying. So... yeah.

You'd do well as Yuffie. I think the outfit for Rachel might just empahize your tallness, or lack thereof, while the costume for Sode no Shirayuki would make you look tiny. Not fond of the second outfit for Erza, tbh.

You look good dressed as a power ranger!

As for the rest of it, if your uncle is helping you out then it's all good. Erza would definantly be a big hit anyway. I'll even go so far as to agree with Aeral, height really does play into alot of it. You'd have to read the Manga and Watch the Anime for Pandora hearts if you want. The overall character isn't too hard to get right, that is, if you're good at being a tsundere. Neither are really long, and I don't even think the manga is finished yet.

You could pull off a good Medusa gorgon from soul eater fairly easily. The costume is rather simple (don't even need shoes)

I only included it because it was easy, and I'm really planning on completing her armor. I was considering the gothic lolita one but it's too plain and would not be easily recognizable (the Fairy Tail tattoo is even hidden because of the long sleeves of the blouse). As for Sode no Shirayuki, it was Siam's idea. A friend of mine told me I'll fit her wield (Rukia Kuchiki) more. I was thinking that if ever I chose Sode no Shirayuki, I'd have to wear thick-soled slippers. D:

I'm the girl beside Kamen Rider Accel Trial. cry.gif

I'll have to squeeze that in during my free days. New anime/manga to see. Wee.xD

Yeah. Height's my problem a lot of times

Hrm. I'd have to think about this one because of wig concerns..unless of course I'd have other characters to use it with. biggrin.gif

Getting some sort of flak from friends over the Black Wing armor..it is a lovely piece, though. losewings.gif
