Health/Mana/Ego Percentages

One thing I've always been unsure of is what to set my health/sparkle/scroll percentages as for various situations (combat, bashing, vs warrior, vs monk, vs tp, etc).

I know for a warrior you want your sparkle and health scroll to be used at a greater percentage than health to save that for wounds, maybe a similar strategy for monks, and ego is a priority for tp's. Bashing I'm never really sure, I put health at a fairly high percentage and put sparkle/scroll lower, around 60%.

Just curious if anyone would mind sharing their philosophy/numbers, or some good rules of thumb.

If you can afford it, it's always good to scroll at higher levels of h/m/e. If you have a lower % of your max when you try to heal, you actually heal less than you would at a higher percent! I'd avoid using scroll at anything lower than 65% max health, since it just becomes wasteful.

Thanks for the tip, as soon as I find an enchanter willing to fix me up a cube I'll raise it.

I currently have sips at 85%, scroll at 50% and (fake) sparkle at 25%. Am I doing it wrong? I never even thought of setting different percentages for combat dry.gif

Yes, you're doing it wrong. Follow Ragniliff's advice.
Sylphas2010-12-09 17:36:09
For bashing, I just go in order of price: sip > coltsfoot > scroll. Still haven't tweaked for combat.

I personally have sip at 86%, sparkle at 80%, and scroll at 70%. Is that good? I kind of completely pulled those numbers outta nowhere when I had to make a decision on it, and I kind of was like "I DON'T KNOW, WHY WOULD I KNOW THIS, DO I LOOK LIKE THE KIND OF PERSON WHO THINKS ABOUT THIS." laugh.gif

General:
Sip 80%
Sparkle 75%
Scroll 60%

If I'm going up against warriors or monks (1v1):

Scroll 90%
Sparkle 85%
Sip 70%

This is just for health, mind you. Unless I'm influencing/going against a telepath or suspecting a manakill, I don't use scroll for ego or mana at all, and the sparkle/sip percentages are set lower.

General:

Sip 85%
Sparkle 75%
Scroll 65%

Warriors/Monks:

Sparkle 88%
Scroll 76%
Sip 60%

Where would you throw beast heal into that? =O
Unknown2011-01-14 18:24:06
I use my beast healing on a flat number. If I'm down at least 800 health/mana/ego (and on balance), I order the beast to heal me. You have to track your beasts mana/ego, too, or at least make failsafes to stop the healing when he runs out.

I add different afflictions depending on how low my h/m/e is, so I can use them in my elixir queue. The threshold for the afflictions are at 85%, 65% and 45%. I also prioritize. If I am fighting against a telepath and both my health and ego are below 85%, I drink bromides. Against people with mana instas, I prioritize mana, of course. The prioritizing is automated, I switch to a different priority than the default health when I see the mana/ego draining messages. I switch back to prioritizing health manually or if I die.

I drink, read and eat sparklies at the same threshold (85%).

I hope this helps somewhat.

so this setup is wasteful for me?o.O
h/m/e percentages:
sip 95/80/80
scroll 85/80/80
sparkle 80/75/75

M&M's sipper actually thinks about where you'll be after a sip so as not to over-use your cures. Such dedication to efficiency!
Unknown2011-03-22 07:07:22
Yeah... others have been doing that for years. tongue.gif

I dislike having multiple modes for different opponents. Plus most combat is group combat anyway so you shouldn't design around one on one combat too much. Here's my recommendation, when you have wounds: sparkle, scroll, beast heal, then sip. When you don't have wounds then move sip up to first. When I have wounds I sparkle and scroll at 85 percent when I don't I sparkle and scroll at 60 percent. Although keep in mind that I play a tanky character so those numbers may be a little low to reduce waste.
