Warriors are broken

Okay, so a long time ago I remember everyone hated us knights. We were touted as being OP and broken etc. etc. and whatnot. Since I've come back I've noticed that we've been supernerfed. I don't mean like just a little nerf, I mean like omg ultra nerf.

Now, before people blow up, remembering how terrible it was to get double lunged with runed, max damage broadswords for a pinleg and instadeath, people can just afk knights now. Went into the arena and beat on Vathael for 10 minutes while he went to have a cigarette and he had no wounds, no afflictions. Sure I can get robe-wearers who haven't transed their tanking skills, but I'm pretty sure things are supposed to be balanced around omnitransing.

Against other knights you might as well just throw your weapons away and try to mud-wrestle. It will be more effective. Just ask any of the other knights I've fought around with since coming back. Ixion, Sidd, Veyrzhul, back me up some here? Maybe knights were a little op a long time ago, but now they are so useless! I don't want to leave my favorite guild just so I have abilities that can compete :/

Anyone else seeing this problem? Are knights borked and no one wants them to start working again? Should I quit the ur'Guard so I can fight? I mean, lusty is very group oriented, and I'm sure a herd of knights would eventually be effective after you got enough of them together, but is there no hope for solo knight fighting?

/vouch, all points.

Warriors can't do damage anymore, bummer.

Warrior vs. warrior is still a pile of donkeys, but that's always been a problem even back in the day.
Rivius2010-12-07 22:10:39
There's more problems with warriors than warrior on warrior. Like, for example, unartied, non-demi warriors. sad.gif

But I think there's something terribly wrong when I tie with other warriors who far outclass me in spars.
Unknown2010-12-07 22:10:52
Pretty much.
Lilian2010-12-07 22:14:49
I hear the Champion Helms are pretty useless too. Seriously? Added damage to a class that does zero damage to replace added wounding?

Ohnoez you does 150 damage instead of 100! Idienow!

Warrior is the pits.
Ixion2010-12-07 22:21:44
Grip rune pretty much broke warriors anyway.
Unknown2010-12-07 22:40:36
I agree.
Unknown2010-12-07 22:43:34
The problem is, we needed the better wounding too. Its not like we got better wounding, and suddenly didn't need to work on it any more, or were getting afflictions on demand.

What we need is a base damage increase- not a big one, but enough that we're forcing people to sip health at times to offset wound applications. At the moment, if you're going for wounds, decent regen will cover the damage you're doing.

I had Shuyin hit me with lightning runed weapons. As a merian. The results were amusingly bad.

We could make weapon types matter more, but honestly, given the disgustingly disproportionate investment knights already put in to their weapons... that's not a particularly attractive option.
Unknown2010-12-07 22:51:05
/agree with everything said so far

My artifacts, especially weapon runes, and skill ranks don't mean jack any more.
Unknown2010-12-07 23:01:51
I can see having different weapon types matter- damage weapons damaging, etc., or even just stats mattering (which we did... and would work if we could do damage)...

But for that to be fair at this point, we should finally be able to put knight weapon runes on jewelery, or have a way to move them from weapon to weapon at no cost. If we could do that, I can guarantee the morale of the knight population would go way up, and we'd be a lot more receptive to newer and innovative changes to the system.

Even moreso if we approach the potential polearms spec.

PS- ALSO! Make a two handed hammer spec! Because it would be awesome.

How about making the one-handed hammer spec a bit less...disappointing...before moving on to a two-handed hammer smile.gif

How about removing that natural miss chance? With all the parrying, stancing, and dodging people are doing, I really don't see why we have to just falter and miss all on our own now. I have fights where I just consistently fail to hit my target anywhere with anything, and when I do land a hit, I don't always get the affliction I want. I mean, monks have a far easier time getting warrior afflictions than warriors do.
Unknown2010-12-07 23:20:04
I've been thinking about just adding more poisons for warriors and removing shrugging from resilience in order to give knights more reliability, but the big hitch is monks.
Sidd2010-12-07 23:20:58
I don't think warriors are terribly broken, yeah, I have a hard time building wounds on other warriors too, but I blame that mostly on me more than anything else.

Maybe a few small adjustments would help, but overall I think they're fine

I do think AL and BC could use a little help

Ooh ooh! Give everyone weapon aura and a level 3 (or whatever it winds up as after the changes) balance bonus! /passive agressive facetiousness

The problem with AL and BC was, nobody liked being double-tapped or stun/wind spammed into the ground.

Because you have pin leg. Which is your trans skill, just higher up.

Warriors are not fine. The archetype is old and busted. All the new hotness has been amped up so much, it's making us look like the bastard cousins.

The RNG makes the messages fun and the afflictions random enough to give the other guy a chance, but it makes us stand out from everyone else in a not-so-good way. Little or no passives means we're the archetype screwed over the most by the RNG.

BC needs one or two of those stuns back, too. The stun-proof timer thing was added as a means of stopping the perma-stun, and switching things like Knockdown to balance loss just doesn't cut it, especially against acrobats.

I remember somebody telling me this, once, when I came back a year ago - and it saddened me:

"If you want to kill with a weapon so badly, go be a Monk."
