Geomancers, Splendor Robes and Shields, oh my!

There's been a bit of discussion in the IRC today about Geomancers and what mitigation they have available to them. The current question is can a Geomancer wield a shield as well as his staff at the same time and if so, will the shield stats stack with the defensive boost from his Splendor robes?

Yes, you can wield both shield and staff.

You will lose the benefit of both "shields" if you have a shield rune on your staff, though.

And yes, shields stack with armour.

They stack with splendours, to varying degrees, on everything but your legs.

Awesome.
Munsia2009-05-29 18:59:16
I'd get a shielding rune though.

That's planned, but for now a 40/40 siheld will do.

Also, how much does it cost to get your robe enchanted? Need to work out how much it'll cost each time to remake the splendors + enchant them until I get the stats I want.

Aren't you a forger? Splendors can only be worn by the tailor that makes them...unless it has been changed.

He's a guild hopper. He takes after me.

Probably going to be moving Titus to the Geomancers. Their style of combat suits me more. And I really like the idea behind the class.*

But yes, I'll be going Tailor. So! If anyone knows how much it costs to make a set of splendor robes and get them enchanted each time, please let me know.

*I get to be in a guild with Jigan and all his awesome glory.

Bored of forging already?

The cost of the comms to make a splendor robe will vary with the pattern. But splendors have 125 to 150 comms. They could easily run 10000 gold or more.

I got mine enchanted for 2000 or 3000, can't remember precisely.

I charge about 2k per robe enchantment. Making the splendours is much more expensive; if you plan to do it repeatedly, you might want to find a friend with some shears.

Are splendor robes like Masterwork Armor for a forger? Or do they have decay on them and just offer extra proofing slots?
Zallafar2009-07-05 03:43:09
They do decay (and can be mended), they do offer 2 extra proofing slots. Also, proofings are twice as effective as with normal robes, they can be enchanted to higher levels than normal robes, and their prestige is greater.
