I forget the book's name now, but there's a book based on somebody who built a cabin in alaska with much the same principle; as long as you properly manage rainwater, you're usually good. Key is to make sure your actual roof (the waterproof part) is perfectly complete, but with his roof, I'd doubt that'd be a problem. however, looking at his plans, the side of his house that's bordered by the hill- see "window/patio" Here, seems to be lacking any sort of ranwater protection; that'd be something to consider.

I want one of these. now, if only the woodlands weren't so far from everything and/or expensive...

EDIT: Rather, seems to have inadequate rainwater protection, not completely lacking.
