I thought that my macros may be overriding my system's commands (CMUD), causing the 'stand' entry to never go through- but then when I type stand manually I get something along the lines of the same response. It is strange because this never used to happen to me at all, and now has become quite frequent with anything that prones. I suspected that it was possibly something about prone/certain NPCs/kata (for the reason that NPCs are suddenly shielding in the middle of my Katas, which could suggest a covert speed adjustment) that changed since I went on hiatus, but more probably or Catarin's system has a few ghosts in the machine.

Or is it a bug? My balance is going somewhere, but I am never getting the recovery message.
Your appraisal?

Looks like attempting to do a kata, even if prone, takes your balance. You should stand before trying to do a kata form.
Vhaas2009-04-23 10:29:24
blink.gif I didn't differentiate 'k' from 'x'. Thank you.

That never used to happen. I am curious as to whether or not it is a bug. As for standing first, the only problem is that my system needs a line to know it is proned- and it usually gets that line from an attempted offense. I could just plug stand into every macros, but that adds baggage.
Havulma2009-04-23 12:26:54
It seems to be a bug that you attempt to continue your forms even when you are prone. Normally it would wait for you to stand up and continue after that again (if your momentum level still allows you to continue). I noticed some other weird things with kata and bugged them among this. Let's hope they will get fixed soon.
Unknown2009-04-23 18:01:40
There are some new changes to monk momentum that were implemented yesterday that I suspect are not bugs:

1) You no longer gain momentum if you hit a shield.
2) Attempting a PK form while your target is not there will use balance.

Bashing forms were not affected by change #2. I do not use balance when trying to kill a rat when it isn't in the room. So I suspect what you're experiencing is not intended. Just bug it and wait patiently for the admins to respond.
Havulma2009-04-23 18:11:00
Ah, good changes there.

Why is that a good change? No other classes lose balance when they attack a non-existant target, so why should they? :/

No doubt, that's screwed up. Not like we swing and hope the target is still there.
Everiine2009-04-23 22:02:15
That does seem wrong. Trying to start a kata when the target is not there should be the same as it is for everyone else-- nothing happens. It was momentum you could build when your target wasn't there, right? Not sure why this change was put into place then.
Havulma2009-04-23 22:31:07
Eh yeah, it does feel very stupid now that I actually think about it. dry.gif
Shiri2009-04-24 01:48:02
2 is certainly not a good change, and probably unintentional. It's been the case before too. Report it. 1 is certainly good though.
Vhaas2009-04-24 01:51:56
I reported the prone issue. I do not know if anyone should bother with the latter, and I am feeling too apathetic to log in today. You do it, Rika. biggrin.gif

Ten seconds off balance because he wasn't in the room. Really?
Vhaas2009-04-24 02:23:31
Yes, that would be one Dis of a 'nerf' if that were the intention. I've gotten about the same fighting NPCs. We would be better off if instead of loosing balance it just put us to sleep, or produced a shovel and made us dig.
Shiri2009-04-24 02:37:42
Uh...in the meantime, you can just terminate.
Unknown2009-04-25 07:16:53
I think its a bug. I've BUGged it anyways. Started from when the change for not being able to modify forms mid autokata went in I guess.

You lose full balance and you continue to the next form as if you successfully attacked when you can't actually attack. Which is as far as I can tell prone somehow, off equilibrium or target isn't there. Sometimes I'm still able to kick and just can't use the arms in a form, which is weird because according to my prompt I still have arm balances, just not the x for normal balance.
Sidd2009-04-27 16:26:11
I've noticed the arm thing as well,

and I've noticed that sometimes it gets stuck, I'll try to change my kata and will get the too focused to change message but I won't be performing anything until I do something like diag that takes eq and when I regain eq I'll continue doing the forms. I haven't bugged it yet, because I'm trying to figure out what sets it off.

I bugged that before and I WAS told they fixed it. The way I saw it, it was any form of hindering, stun, paralysis, anything that would stop you from doing the kata when you got balance back.

That was actually fixed, at least for paralysis. Nowadays you continue your forms after paralysis like you are supposed to, so this seems to be something new. (Unless it wasn't fully fixed and there's still something in it.)
