Don't know if the topic has ever been discussed before, due to balance reasons, but uhhh... it would be nice to have artifact runes for armour. Perhaps:
Elemental/magic runes: Level 1 and 2 protection versus certain element/magic.
Avoidance: Like those much-hated buckawn boots, immunity to entangling.
Fortitude: Greater chance to resist poisons.
Self-Healing: Small wounds and health regen.
Mass: Resistance to summons, as with size.
Wings: Allow the wearer to fly.
Stealth: Permanently hidden.
Any additional ideas and comments?

Ya, I could use more defensive artifacts

Narsrim2006-01-21 19:22:57
While I agree, I believe it was stated somewhere that two artifacts would never be present in Lusternia:
Buckawn boots and Veil of Sphinx.
The rest are good though!

Actually Buckawns only worked againts the web tattoo and web bombs thrown to the ground. All other forms of entanglements were not protected against.

Correct, however, a Nihilist without Tarot only has web. Shackles/vines both count as webbing (don't know why, but they do).
Unknown2006-01-21 22:30:52
And there were... what... 2 other forms of entanglement? Besides the web bomb in inv. trick.
Richter2006-01-22 01:58:45
I like the idea of armour runes, but that's just one more thing on my "I want to buy this eventually list"

Verithrax2006-01-22 02:09:58
I think there's already too much of a discrepancy between how mages, wiccans, and druids resist damage, and how warriors resist damage. Besides, we do have armour artifacts: They're called full plate and splendour robes, and cost 270 credits each.

I guess I did not make myself clear. It only worked on webs from those sources. A bomb that exploded in the hands of a person still webbed him. Creatures that webbed people still hit the wearer. It only stopped webbing from the tattoo and a bomb being thrown on the ground. All other forms of webbing still worked. So shackles/vines would still work against a person with buckawns.

geb is correct on this one.
I want that arti plus a veil os sphinx!
EDIT: Before i get drunk, i'd just like to say i think mass boots are a bloody tremendous idea. I also think instead of buckawn boots, there should be an arti that cuts writhe time down to the speed of maybe size 3 writhing and tumbling or something like that.

That's absolute retarded. I want an artifact that gives immunity to stun then.
Geb2006-01-22 04:49:14
Oh, I just wanted it made clear that I do not support the idea of Buckawn artifacts being introduced. My post was just made to correct some of the misinformation surrounding some artifacts. Another example was people thinking sustenance artifacts made a person immune to sleep and hunger. That was false. It only turned on the level 80 flag that discontinued a character's need to eat and sleep normally. The person was definitely still susceptible to sleep and hunger producing attacks.

As for the discrepency between knights and other classes, I was actually proposing this more to help the other classes (vs. damage mod runes and tackle/barge/etc)

I think patches that work like runes but are attached to clothing would be interesting. You could attach a patch of protection to your clothes, for example, and make them non-decay until you removed the patch; they'd give you 50/50, 60/60, or 70/70 protection, depending on the artie, and would protect the whole body, regarless of what you're wearing. So you'd be able to be protected and at the same time wear whatever you want to wear (I want splendour outfits that are trouser and shirt sets, not robes. Robes are too cliche.

Morik2006-01-22 08:31:40
What, so you want better armour so you don't have to bother trying to hinder?
Combat Balance, meet wtf?.
