lattice of heavy grey clouds. Running parallel to the Southern Mountains, the
highway meanders through the lower boundaries of the basin of civilization. The
ground is smoothed by time, by feet, by beasts of burden, all of whom
continually press down upon any vegetation who dares to try to shoot a sprout
up in the path of commerce. The large body of water that is Bondero Bay is but
a short distance from the highway. The smell of the salty sea lingers in the
air. There are 2 large wall of ices here. A sigil in the shape of a small,
rectangular monolith is on the ground. Limned with holy fire, a celestial
archangel stands loftily on a floating cloud, regarding you with her

Seems I was right. Chasm is like soulless, paralyzing or putting them on the ground doesn't stop it. Your best bet is to angel fear or panic to drive them out.

The room was walled, fear wouldn't have worked. Ethelon reminded me about catacombs, but with the paralysis and the short time chasm takes, that'd be almost impossible to pull off. Same with starleaper.

Everything you can't do while sitting you also can't do while off-balance, and as soon as you're on balance you can stand up. (Unless webbed. In which case you can't do the things anyway.) So what's it for anyway? Does it disrupt chasm/judgement/soulless etc.?

EDIT: Sorry, my statement was a bit off.
Basically, if you're standing, rockslide will do about 200 damage to you. If you're prone, aka sitting or on the ground, rockslide can do about 650 damage (yay!)

Phantom will do about 300 damage. So the 1K damage that you pointed out, Terenas, was due to being on the ground and hit with phantoms and rockslide at the same time.

Geomancy: Duststorm will occassionally give blindness. I also fixed the
OBSERVE loophole bug where you could gleen exits using the OBSERVE skill
in Environment. Also, rockslide will do more damage to people who are
prone.


I tested it on Daevos. While standing, it did 232 damage to him. While sitting, it did 676 damage. Phantoms by itself will do between 300 and 400 damage depending on your resistances. That upgrade was JUST put in a day ago.

That can easily be circumvented if you use earthquake. Considering how all the demesne effects run on almost the same interval of 9 to 10 seconds. Casting them all at the same times with earthquake will always ensure that your tremors hit right before rockslide. Adding in the fact that entangled/paralysis will also make your rockslide do additional damage. I've seen against an Aquamancer's demesne where the stun will hit right before the icefloe so you can't drink fire right away, this is the same situation here.

It's official. If you end up in a fully walled room with a flamed monolith and someone starts chasm on you while you have 5 or so afflictions, you might die.

As for if being made to kneel should stop it, there's two problems with that. First, the message doesn't actually include anything requiring someone to stand. Second, chasm would be impossible to get off against a Celestine having their angel do that and thus be made completely useless, since its attack rate is faster than chasm's speed. The skill already has many other conditions that have to be met to use it well so I doubt they'll be changing it in that way.

Forget the afflictions. The only affliction that affected me was being repeatedly paralysed by that glowing rune ability. The fact is, if you're in a fully roomed, monolithed room, all the Geomancer has to worry about is when to chasm. I'm taking spores to every duel now wink.gif

By my count, when the chasm was started Amaru had one affliction (insomnia), health about 500 below max, all defs up that should have been. I don't see where the glaring mistake there was, it's hardly his fault if his opponent throws a few walls up and drops a sigil. If -that- is all that it takes to kill someone then it does seem pretty powerful.
