Dreamweavers could NOT fight then.  They'd almost always be out of willpower.  And it would mean you'd have to wait until you got attacked almost to set up a demesne, or you'd be out of willpower by the time you did.  A -small- drain, maybe, but anything sizable is insane.

Or it could be based on the effects, and not the demesnes themselves.

If you think about it though, that's a big advantage to Hartstone and to a lesser extent Aquamancers because of Maidens and benediction, the former of which MOST Moondancers have.

And YES, mages and druids are DIFFERENT. I like that a lot.

(Wish we'd got something different to Astrology, or else the cities had. sad.gif But nevermind!)

Kaervas, you rock. I have to agree about the demesne abilities and the general opinions about them.

For instance, I've invested much time into the Elementalism/Geomancy skill. I don't know how many credits I've thrown into the damn skill, but it has been quite a bit. I've bought credits off of the credits market. I've bought OOC credits and put them all into it. I've even put every 5 lessons into it.

And I'm still using cast censor.gif blast.

I am censor.gif tired of using "blast" and only blast as my only means of defeating mobs/denizens.

I'm censor.gif bored of 'blast' and I've been using it since I was a pupil in Magnagora. But hey, that's fine as far as elementalism is concerned. I'm even more concerned when it came to basic geomancy. You realized how upset I was when I was told I couldn't even use boulder blast against denizens? And since then, I've gotten nothing but demesne pertient garbage. I never use them, and I'm just desperately waiting for 'Staff' but gods know when I'm going to get -that- one. I'm not interesting in demesne combat, and I think if Estarra doesn't want to get rid of it, at least give mages the option to have Elemental Magic that is more -offensive-. Somewhat like giving fighters blademaster and bonecrusher.

And if anything, give us something that's useful for the other 95% of the times we're -not- using demesnes. Eesh.

If we're talking about mobs, I don't think any guild has more than like two abilities to kill those. Personally I just have moonburst and curse. Hell, Nihilists and Celestines -only- have cosmicfire.

Staff's at 66% fabled. At least, cudgel is. Keep buying those credits.

Shiri's right about it being worse for the other guilds though.

@ Shiri

Dude, that isn't cool. I think players at least deserve some options on how to approach combat instead of throwing one spell at everything all the time. It isn't cool when you have this huge spell list and you can only use -one- spell on it offensively.

@Mav I'll keep buying credits 'cause I'm supporting this game. But as a paying customer I'm saying to give me some more damn spells to use. This is like, in first person shooters, only using your pistol throughout the entire game, and you're strapped with full automatics, grenades, and anti-vehicular weapons. In the case of D&D, this is like using Magic Missile to attack everything from oozes to Tarrasques... and you don't even get the benefits of Maximize Spell or Spell Matrix... when you have Otiluke's Freezing Sphere and Meteor Swarm.

I don't always have a demesne on all the time (And while it is a novel idea Estarra... guess what? Your players aren't always using it... no matter how cool it is). Give me something cool and -different- to use when I'm not using it. rolleyes.gif

Seriously now...

It'd be too complex for the engine to cope with NPCs responding to different attacks. The argument's been brought up for like 5 years and nothing's changed. You're supposed to fight players with skills, not monsters, it looks like the consensus is. Sorry.

Slight hijack:

I so agree with this.

End of hijack.

If I ever have to pay 200k to use my skills, I'll seriously just drop all RP and go Moondancer. That's INSANE. Not to mention that I'd hate the golem things worse than I do my demesne.

I think Revan needs to pass the pipe... Remember Revan it is; puff, puff, pass.

Wicca and Guardian have more differences than Mage and Druid do.

Staff's mythical I think.

Actually we have Radiance too in the Celestines... works against Spectres, Glom zombies and Shallach mobs. Maybe Tosha as well.

You have your active effects now in Psionics. Interesting to see how this one will play out!
