The Triumph of Glomdoring
Sing to me songs, o Muse, of triumphant
Glomdoring's victorious conquest march
Her mighty warriors crushing foes beneath
their heels. The Demon Lords of Nil did fall
The Crystal orbs of Hallifax destroyed
and lo, the Avatars of Moon were faced
by Wyrm, and Claw, by Crow, and Song, by Night
and fierce protectors of the Heart so Dark.
The heat did rise as came Avechary
three centuries since the Eternal one
returned in all Her glor'ous majesty
In Glomdoring the Wyrd did flow and call
to those who championed the Forest's might
The numbers swelled and few could face her pride
In Shadow Court the leaders met to talk
of how this army could be best employed.
Northwest on shores of Inner Sea the Light
bless'd city of Celest did try to fight
her Tainted foes across the ocean of
Despair. Beyond the elemental planes
in Cosmic realms did half-formed fight amongst
their ilk with mortal wardens praising them.
The Demon Lords of Nil did number five
and Magnagora stood beneath their sign
Their Taint did billow out across the land
and Light did waver 'fore the Curs'd Engine.
"Fear not," she said, the Regent Dark, "as we
shall bolster up thy cause. Our troops of Shade
will aid the Light and bring our wrath upon
the Lords of Nil and Magnagora's shores.
Rise forth, o Nocturne Forest with thy steel
in hand and shadows flowing down thy back
Call out to Crow and sing the hymns of Wyrd
to Mother Night. Our victory shall be
assured and Taint will fade away as pact
of Equinox brings Light to Nil on tides
of twilit strength. No fear is found amongst
our ranks, worries shall plague our people not.
The Light is strong, but see, Celest, so much
more strong is Night. Thy foes we'll fell without
regard and tyranny shall be at end."
To Nil the Equinox did fly, on back
of aetherbeast and flooding through the gates
betwix't the planes. From ev'ry pore that breach'd
the wall that Tainted realm unto, the crawling Shade
with Light upheld did creep and flow and pour.
The Light burst forth on barren wastes and blazed
with wrathful ire, a shining star amidst
the dark of hate and fear and pain inside
the tortured plane. Yet Light knew not of Dark's
deep ways, and it could not through force destroy.
The shadows said, "the Dark is ours, for from
it we were born. We know its secrets as
our own and through the cracks in armour we
can flow to strike them down. To Gorgulu,
the King of swine, the first to fall is He!"
Through fetid swamp and mis'rable mire, so sick
and foul, diseased, the imps were smote and demons
were felled, no army barred their way. Into
the Thousand Hungered Pit the armies fell,
and there they stood before the mass of flesh
called Gorgulu. The armies Light did shine
their strength upon His twisted flesh so foul,
yet ne'er His hide could they but pierce so Shades
did guide the way. Into His thousand mouths
agape the corpse of aetherbeast was placed
engorging Him to sate His gluttony.
The walls of flesh were filled to burst by bones
of Magnagora's fallen, the fattened swine
called Gorgulu, too weak to move, unable
to defend himself from the Twilit storm.
The Soul Devourer was slain at last
and so the swamp was left for wicked webs
whose strands in Darkness were entwined around
the form of Baalphegar, Dark Fated Prince.
The Star was shone into the Dark and Prince
did try to flee, but Shades did stand where Light
could not and so His Fated end He met.
Enraged the Duke of Damnnation let loose
a fearful roar and charged with Screaming Hate
to warriors of Equinox, but Night enclosed
Him with Her cloak and Water doused His flame.
As Ashtorath was put on ice the Queen
came to His side with torturous desire.
Cruel Nifilhema she thought inflicting
pain would slow Night down and cause Light to fall
But Night and Crow are born of pain and ne'er
their hand would it deter, so Light watched on
as the Cruel Queen was tortured 'til She
could not the pain Herself endure and She
succumb'd to sweet release by Shadow's sting.
Great Luciphage Master Supreme was left
alone but Magnagora would not have
their Master fall and so a shield to bar
the path was made. The Taint lashed out to strike
at Shadow'd Light but never did the Twilight fade.
The finest of the Taint were felled, cowards
did not return, as Equinox crashed down
with endess tide. The Dark was bound by Wyrd's
great might and Luciphage could lead no more.
"No time to relish our great deed," she called
from Shadowed Council's throne, "for Wyrd is strong
and we must show Glomdoring to the world.
To Gaudiguch we turn our sight, our aid
the Chaos city needs for they have not
the strength to fight the floating spires alone
The Crawling Chaos we will be to break
the crystal Harmony in twain like glass."
Wyrd darken'd clouds 'midst rushing winds and quelled
Air's mighty storm, then through the crystal walls
of the Continuum the Shadows seeped
and dull'd the gemstones' sparkling glow,
disorder brought to order'd realms and chaos
on quiet planes. The Institute did send
its best to ward their hallowed stones from harm
distorting time to slow the Night's advance.
But Wyrd is here, it will always be, Time
cannot erase Wyrd's mark nor cease its march
of victory. The Spheres were rent and cracked
to shards, the crystal halls were left in ruin.
The Regent Dark upon her throne did call
out once again. "Our favour we have lent
to thee, o Light bless'd city of Celest.
The Tainted Lords they are no more and we
are whom thou give thy thanks. And Gaudiguch
so free and wild, no more will order vex
thy mind, its harmony is lost in time.
Our favour we will once again bestow
on thee, a blessing of good will, thou see.
The Avatars of Moon will fall by hand
of Wyrd and caw of Crow. A token then
to let thee come and witness our triumph'nt
dance upon the bodies left by those who call
the Serenwilde their home. And listen now
to Forest's call as I cry out their names.
O Ebonguard raise up thy sword, take shield
in hand and call for war. Thine blades will taste
the blood of foes and they will drink their fill.
O Blacktalon sing out the cry of Crow's
eternal Thirst for Blood. Let lose the rage
of Wyrden woods upon Glomdoring's rivals.
O Shadowdancers pull forth shade to blot
the light of Mother Moon behind the veil
of Night's dark cloak, ne'ermore be seen again.
O Harbingers let voice ring clear and sing
the Wyrden Song. Take pois'nous melody
of Shadowbeat and curdle their insides.
O Nekotai take claw in hand and from
the darkness lead the Scorpion's sting
Venomous strikes take life from enemies
O Heart of Darkness hear the pound, the rhythm
of Deadend Drums that call us forth to war
against the Avatars of Moon this Night!"
A raucous shout came from the woods and shades
pour'd forth from Master Tree upon the realm
Ethereal. The strength of Glomdoring
charged 'cross the Faethorn province of Queen Maeve
as flaming gouts rip'd out of basalt arch
and shim'ring Light on Tides did shine so bright.
From Earth and Air did Tainted Storm erupt
with howling fury and crash into Light's purging
Fires. As battle raged, the Wyrden dusk
slip'd through the ros'ed arch, the moonlit glen
to overcome with lasting dark e'ermore.
Luna the Maiden of the Moon was swarm'd
by tenebrous and darkend wisps, the Night
surrounding her and stealing out her light.
The boots of Wyrden warriors did stomp
a rhythmic march to meter out the Song
of Night to which the shadows made their dance
on feather'd wings, the cruel caress concealing
a deadly thrust of Scorpion's tail, and though
the Moon did shine so bright, no more the Maiden's
light could now hold and so she fell, her husk
deliver'd to Shee-Slaugh and sacrificed
to Mother Night's embrace so cold and dark.
Around Selene did Serenwilde display
their strength, their forces brought to bear defence
As Moondancers ringed 'round the Avatar
Their coven called on lunar might to bathe
the glen with argent beams and pierce the shades
that slashed at Her and so drive back the dusk.
But Glomdoring would not desist, wiccans
of Night did dance as well, and as the light
of Moon felled shades the coven made them whole
again, the fight was then rejoined with verve.
Their cudgels raised the Hartstone called upon
the pow'r of Stag and charg'd into the fray
with antlers down to gore their marks and let
their life bleed out. But druids Crow did scream
their caw and to the air they took, and for
each eye the Harts did take the Crow took two
as pay, and life for life the score was kept.
The Spiritsingers tried to bring a tune
of old to lay to waste but Harbingers
sang clear and true and Shadow'd Beat's great Song
could not be overcome by spirits old.
No more could Moon's great mother take and so
She fell. The gravid Avatar was then
deliver'd to the darkest slaugh, unborn
children a treat for Mother Night's delight.
Last Albion the haggard Crone, and shields
were formed around Her husk. The Serenwilde
would not give in and called upon her friends
As Taint seeped up from earthen cracks the wind
did whip with rage. But Glomdoring was join'd
in kind by flames of Light and light of Flames.
The elements a maelstrom formed, shrieking
amongst themselves and wreaking bitter havoc
upon Ethereal and silv'ry Wilde.
Within the eye of raging storm the First
of Forests faced the calm of Wyrden woods.
Nary a word was said and even birds
were still, and there within the sound of silence
The Serenguard defended Crone, their shields
batter'd by Ebon blades, their armour cut
by Wyrmling's Axe, and though their Seren blades
did kill, for each that fell two more would rise
until the glen was overcome by dark.
In inky black the Shofangi did spin
their crescent staghorn blades, each slice to cut
through crawling swarm of beetle, spider, wasp
and bat, but Scorpion could not be crushed.
Thus Albion was rent asunder now
and like Her family before was lain
into the arms of Lhiannan, consigned
to cold repose in arms of Mother Night.
A silence fell upon the misty woods
as last of Moon's great guides dispersed on Night's
cool breeze. The warriors of Wilde did cease
their fight as quiet rang across the glen.
As suddenly as they had come the shades
and flame and Light were gone, the Forest left
in disarray with Avatars no more.
Stand tall triumphant Glomdoring, and with
your might, now shake the skies where Night and Moon
did battle on. Your praise eternal will
be sung across the land as Wyrd is spread.
The First of Forests cowers now behind
the cities they call friend, unable once
again to rise to meet the call of growth
and change that brings the Glomdoring to life.
Let Crow and Night be guides into our time
of glor'ous victory against the whole
of those who stand before us calling for
our death. The Heart of Dark will beat out strong
because nothing matters but Glomdoring!
